With its ability to enhance or undermine great decor—color is the most important element of a space. Today we’re exploring the work of brilliant local color expert Vanessa Rider, of @colormoxie.
After growing up in a home with all white walls, Vanessa was inspired to explore the rest of the color spectrum, and the potential it has to evoke powerful feelings. Her approach is to ask her clients “how do you want to feel in this space?” rather than “what color do you want?” She then works to create a cohesive “color plan” that unites their personal taste with their home’s era and style.
Vanessa says of her process, "Sometimes people are worried that designers will be pushy, especially with color, getting them to try trends they may not like or push the envelope to create a bold statement. In contrast, my goal is for the client to feel heard and understood, so we create a home that is true to them. The biggest reward is seeing the homeowner beaming after we have put their palette together.”
