Today we celebrate the work of @vanillawood —and the two designers who can do it all —designing, building, architecture, and interiors.
Kricken and James Yaker bring their love of urban contemporary style to every project, infusing their designs with clean lines and natural light.
The Aft House was a labor of love, and the first house that the duo built from the ground-up. Kricken explains, "Because we were our own client, we were able to really push ourselves to go outside of our comfort zone (hello steel beam and heavily engineered cantilevered floating staircase) and really go for it to create a home that was calm and contemporary yet warm and inviting." The front of the house only hints at what awaits you when you step inside: double-height ceilings and walls of glass that frame the rolling lawn down to the lake. In recognition of this project, Kricken and James were flown to Italy and presented with a Fantini Design Award! Thanks to @vanillawood for sharing your incredible achievement and innovative spirit with us.
